Lesson # Dan. 7:23-25 Study Material - Dan. 7:23-25 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Dan. 7:23-25 23 'Thus he said: 'The fourth beast will be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which will be different from all the other kingdoms, and it will devour the whole earth and tread it down and crush it. 24 'As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings. 25 'And he will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. The explanation continues. The fourth beast rises up after the first three. It will be different form the first three as we have already noted. Its description, its mechanics, its influence is more drawn out than the first three. Spread out over the entire earth, this fourth beast will grow up and shatter (reference to Nebuchadnezzar's dream), then out of it, the fourth beast, ten kingdoms will rise. This we note as the advancement of our Western Civilization 0r the devouring, 'akal', or better put, the strong influence over the remainder of the entire world. This is of course our history over the last nearly 1600 years, or since the Roman Empire finally went into the tank with the hordes invasion in the fourth and fifth century A.D. These hordes did not set up ten individual kingdoms but the Roman Empire fragmented and many regions and nations have come and gone in these last several centuries, until we got to where we are today. The European union of recent years certainly seems to have been on the prediction block as we watch it come together. Now out of these ten kingdoms, will rise an eleventh horn will arise. Will we see it in our day? No. We may see evidence of it, or think that we see evidence of it, but we will be wrong. Why? Because just as God has held our Church Age in secrecy during the Old Testament times, so also He holds the identity of this eleventh horn in secrecy, 2 Thes. 2:7-8. So read all the books on the 'end times', listen to all the theories, but no one will get it right. The Holy Spirit is the power holding back the identity of the eleventh horn. So guess as we might we will not even be lucky in our guess. The Holy Spirit will be removed from the earth and then, and only then will the identity of that eleventh horn be made known. What is the removal? Our Rapture of course. That is when all believers will be removed from planet earth, in an instant, in a twinkling of an eye. Oh, and by the way, that applies to all believers who have ever lived in the Church Age. Those who have lived before us in centuries past and have died, and those who are alive at the time of the Rapture. All will hear the trumpet sound, the trumpet call of Christ. Don't worry, you won't miss it. Have you ever been to a busy shopping center with your kids and when you call them they hear you, or better yet, when they call you, you hear them. We all will know the call of Christ and He will take us. We do not go to Him, He takes us. He snatches us up as He descends in the clouds (He does not at this time return to the ground, but into the clouds only, and there He retrieves all of us who belong to Him. Then we are taken again like captives, as the Old Testament saints were led, in a huge procession, back to heaven, and there in heaven we will participate in first the Judgment Seat of Christ. That is our time of evaluation. Did you study your Bible or not??? Then we will participate in a wedding feast. The greatest reception party of all time. This will all take seven years in heaven. Meanwhile on earth, those who did not believe in Christ will see the revealed eleventh horn and their troubles will begin. Persecutions will occur. The anti-christ, as we call this eleventh horn, will try to bring in an era of prosperity, a utopia. The anti-christ will try to redefine society and the rules that govern the jungle. But the laws of supply and demand, the laws of economics, the laws of human interactions cannot be changed. This will last three and one-half years. This is not the 'time, times, and half a time' noted in this verse. This is the first half of the Tribulation or 3 1/2 years. The utopia will fail miserably and great violence will break out all over the world due to the frustrations, starvation, famine, roving gangs and so forth (see the study in Rev.). Then the world will see the last half of the Tribulation. Now here is our reference to 'time, times, and half a time' of verse 25. Great persecutions of believers will occur. Everything is failing, so it must be the fault of believers and Jews. Thus the attacks against them and the attempt to eliminate all Jewish peoples from Jerusalem. Why Jerusalem? Because that is the site of Christ return a the Second Advent and there He will rescue those believers who will be surrounded and threatened with annihilation. Satan is behind all of the attempts of preventing God from keeping His promise. Eliminate the Jews and God has no one to return to, to rescue. But Gods promises are always true and will be fulfilled. Satan will fail. The anti-christ will fail. And all evil will be in an extreme panic in those last days, because their days are numbered and they (the evil ones) will know it. Great tyranny will come out of all of this. And of course this (the little horn and such) is all future from our time.
