Lesson # Dan. 3:4-7 Study Material - Dan. 3:4-7 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Dan. 3:4-7 4 Then the herald loudly proclaimed: 'To you the command is given, O peoples, nations and men of every language, 5 that at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up. 6 'But whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire.' 7 Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, nations and men of every language fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. An image, an idol has been constructed by the hand of man. It has been set up by man, and remember that it was 90 feet tall and 9 feet in diameter. It did not go up in one day, but rather it probably took several weeks of design, acquisition and transport of materials, construction, art sculpturing, gold melting and overlaying, and finishing touches. Lots of people were involved in the creation of this idol that had no mental capability, no means of knowing or understanding, no power, no life whatsoever. It was a nothing piece of artwork. That is all. God created the universe in an instant and He created the universe out of nothing. God created the universe of His own volition and with the help of no one. Only the angels, with their tremendously high intelligence abilities, were present to witness this event. The Kings command was to fall down before the idol and worship it or die in the fires of the furnace by being forcibly thrown into them. Gods command is that all should believe in His Son the deliverer and have eternal life, or risk spending eternity in the fires of Hell. People choose to reject God and by doing so cause themselves to slip away from God and then end up in the fires of eternal separation from God. God does not build up the fires of Hell, but Satan will create Hell by means of his own self destruction. Rejection of God ends up in ones own self destruction. The people are called to the attention of the image by means of an orchestra of musical sounds. People are called to Gods word by means of the music of Gods grace policy. The people will fall down and worship this new image, even in the nation which is filled with various idols and gods. They obey and comply from ignorance and from fear of what might happen to them. They fall down before an image that is even more ignorant than they. Nothing people fall down and worship a nothing image. People who are positive toward God, worship God through knowledge and faith, through understanding and not ignorance, but by means of learned faith which comes from hearing and learning and understanding, and applying Gods Word on a regular basis throughout their life. These people were used to idols and therefore had no sense of reality in their souls. No doubt they had heard of the dream of the King, and of Daniel's interpretation, and knew of the head of gold which was the present empire in which they lived. They heard the story and made the wrong conclusions. Everyone has the right to worship as they see fit, of course, but their right comes with responsibility as well as repercussions. If you worship in the right way, then you reap the benefits of that proper compliance with Gods will. If you worship in the wrong way or outright reject God altogether, then you reap the misery that goes along with that improper decision. Negative people are ruled by their emotions (fear in this case, lusts in other examples). Negative people are guided out of ignorance. They have no genuine courage. They live a lose, lose life. Positive people are ruled by truth. They are guided by clear thought. They have genuine courage because they know that there is a higher authority that will intervene if necessary, and even if God does not intervene, they will move on to a better situation. Positive believers advancing to spiritual maturity always have a win, win life regardless of the outcome that others may observe in this world. The king can only see the people bowing down. He cannot read their thoughts and most likely most did not think much of the idol, nor did they genuinely worship it. God can see our every thought, our every motivation, our every deed. God evaluates our life based on facts, not just observations. Man makes his evaluations by the superficial, God by substance.
