19 For as by
the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s
obedience the many will be made righteous. ESV
Paul makes a clear distinction that each person is held responsible, based on their own decisions. The two phrases, many were made, and many be made, are both in the future tense indicating that once the criteria had been established, then it is up to future decisions to determine the effect of those decisions.
Adam committed the original sin. Once Adam had committed the first original sin, then the first criteria for the sin of humanity had been established. But it remained for each individual person to actually commit a sin, and therefore held accountable for their sin, the pattern of which was established by Adam.
Jesus Christ paid the price for Adams original sin, but also for each individuals, individual sins, spanning the entire history of humanity. Jesus Christ established the criteria for salvation, but it remains that each individual must make a decision regarding that salvation.
Each person has made a choice in life for sin. Likewise each person has to make a choice in life for salvation.
Therefore, those who are unable to make that choice, are automatically saved. The example of infants and young children is used to make this case. God is fair.
Each individual is held accountable for their own decisions. No one is ever held accountable for the decisions of someone else.
One man established the pattern and precedent of sin. One man established the pattern and precedent of salvation.
Each person is held accountable and condemned, in sin, because of their own decision.
Each person is given the gift of salvation, because of their faith in Christ.
God is fair.
