manifested [phaneroo], being witnessed [martureo] by [hupo] the law [nomos] and [kai] the prophets [prophetes]; KJV-Interlinear
21 But now
the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the
Law and the Prophets bear witness to it ESV
Too many people are thoroughly confused as to the purpose of the Mosaic Law. There are two laws. The first is the Law of Christ. The second is the Law of Moses.
The Law of Christ, is the law of grace and faith.
The Law of Moses is the law of works.
The first, has been in existence since eternity past, since it was with God since before the beginning of anything and everything.
The second, came into existence when Lucifer, known as Satan, rejected God and wanted to be like or better than God.
True, Moses set the Law, or the Mosaic Law, down in writing, during human history, but that law was written to demonstrate that man in not capable of attaining perfection, and therefore needs a savior.
When Jesus came into this world in His first advent, He fulfilled the Mosaic Law by living it and then went to the cross to complete His purpose, which was to provide a way for salvation for us all.
The cross, in effect abrogated the Mosaic law for good. The Mosaic Law has never been a viable path to salvation, but Jesus cancelled it permanently during His first advent.
The Levites and the Jewish people, kept trying to keep the Mosaic Law, so it had to be put down permanently, and even after the Cross, the Levitical priesthood kept on trying to promote the Law, therefore it was necessary for Jerusalem and the Temple to be destroyed. That occurred in 70 A.D. when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the temple. That should have ended the argument.
But even today, there are too many people who keep on trying to be do-gooders and live according to their own standards, rather than living by Gods mandates, which is to learn and grow through a daily study.
People never learn because people are arrogantly stubborn.
God righteousness is manifested through His works of grace. This outweighs the Mosaic Law.
And this is testified through the prophets who wrote the Old Testament scriptures, which likewise documented the weakness of the Law, the weakness of people, and the need for a savior, who was the promised Messiah, who was coming to fulfill the Law and purchase salvation for us all.
And Jesus Christ did just that.
So, you, again have the choice to ignore Gods mandates and pursue your own course of life and end up with nothing, or, you can join this daily study, by visiting the individual study pages each and every day, and reading them and then learning doctrine, as God expects you too, and growing up in your spiritual life and fulfilling your intended meaning and purpose in life.
