17 And [kai] the dragon [drakon] was wroth [orgizo] with [epi] the woman, [gune] and [kai] went [aperchomai] to make [poieo] war [polemos] with [meta] the remnant [loipoy] of her
[autos] seed, [sperma] which [ho] keep [tereo] the commandments [entole]
of God, [theos] and [kai] have [echo] the testimony [marturia] of Jesus [Iesous] Christ. [Christos] KJV-Interlinear
17 And the
dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of
her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of
Jesus. NASB
The dragon is Satan. He
became enraged, ‘orgizo,’ which means to be incensed, fuming, angry,
infuriated, furious.
Satan’s failure to
capture and kill the Jewish believers that he was pursuing, will drive him to
uncontrollable rage. He will have a tantrum of which there is no comparison.
Failing to capture
Jewish believers on the run or in hiding, Satan will turn his attention to
others which the verse describes as the rest of her offspring, and of whom keep
the commandments of God.
Other offspring, is a
general term which can include Jewish unbelievers, as well as gentile
unbelievers, but also, the phrase, who keep the commandments, includes believers
which are not Jewish. That makes them gentile believers. Jewish believers were
already being pursued and therefore other believers means gentile believers.
So, Satan is going to
get his followers to turn on everyone, including themselves. This will lead the
human race toward accomplishing its own annihilation.
At the beginning of the Tribulation,
the peoples of the world will all worship the anti-christ. Sometime during the
seven year period, people will begin to turn against him, and each other. And
at the end, the battle of Armageddon will become the climax of an all out attempted
destruction of everyone and everything.
Satan is trying his best
to cause a flaw in Gods plan. He fails at every turn.
And as his time is
running out, for he knows full well that the seven year period will conclude with
the Second Advent of Christ, therefore Satan will become more and more and more
frustrated, and agitated, and furious at his seemingly impotent effort to
accomplish his own plan.
