Revelation 9:3 3 And [kai] there came [exerchomai] out of [ek] the smoke [kapnos] locusts [akris] upon [eis] the earth: [ge] and [kai] unto them [autos] was given [didomi] power, [exousia] as [hos] the scorpions [skorpios] of the earth [ge] have [echo] power. [exousia] KJV-Interlinear 3 And
out of the smoke came forth locusts upon the earth; and power was given them,
as the scorpions of the earth have power. NASB The smoke came out from
the Abyss.It did not come out from a
volcano, or from some other natural phenomena. Because of the negative and
corrupt attitude of people toward God, the gates of hell, if you will, have now
been opened.And it is not that people
are simply turned off by the idea of God, but that they are continuing in their
ways of corruption, crime, evil, sin, atrocities, and worse. The creatures that come
out of the smoke, which is coming out of the Abyss, are said to be locust like,
and scorpion like.The locust symbolizes
the vast numbers and vast destruction that they can inflict, and the vast area
that they can cover, and the scorpion symbolism refers to the extreme pain that
the sting of the scorpion can inflict. They are going to be
limited to their deeds.They will be restricted
from harming any green plant, and they will be restricted to bringing harm to unbelievers
only. No animal has the capability
of making those distinctions. Their leader is a demon, and
therefore we know that these creatures are demons coming out of the place where
they have been incarcerated, namely the Abyss. Not since the time of
Noah, have fallen angels been seen in some physical form, in numbers such as
these.But since humanity will be so stubborn
and anti-God, then God is going to raise the limits of judgment and show people
just how bad things can really get. Like a horror movie gone bad, this is going to be a reality check, that people will
not be prepared for.After all when was
the last time that you have seen, actually seen, really bad demons? And the answer to that one is, never. Sure there will be those who think that they
have seen the devil or have heard the voice of God, and such things, but since
the canon of scripture has been completed with this final book from John, there
has been no communication from God, except through the written word, and that
will remain the case until the Tribulation. Those who would disagree
probably have a really good sense of imagination, or intuition, or they are ill,
but in either case, our communication from God, in our current day, comes
solely through the scriptures and from no other source. With these demons, their
power is granted to them from God.Jesus
Christ controls history and everything else for that matter. They can only do,
