Revelation 1:7a

DailyBibleStudy.Org

7 Behold, [idou] he cometh [erchomai] with [meta] clouds; [nephele] and [kai] every [pas] eye [ophthalmos] shall see [optanomai] him, [autos] and [kai] they also which [hostis] pierced [ekkenteo] him: [autos] and [kai] all [pas] kindreds [phule] of the earth [ge] shall wail [kopto] because [epi] of him. [autos] Even so, [nai] Amen. [amen]    KJV-Interlinear

7 Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. Even so. Amen.    NASB

Behold, 'idou', see, understand, know, be aware, listen, pay attention.

This is a loud announcement intended for all peoples, believer and unbeliever alike.  Stop what you are doing.Stand up, look and know what is happening.Because this is a certain event that will occur in the future.

Here is the first prophetic oracle in the Book of Revelation, Christ’s Second Advent.

The present tense of ‘erchomai,’ coming, means that this event is certain to occur, and is stated as happening now for the effect.Know that Christ is coming, whether you believe it or not. Christ is coming to end mans evil and arrogance, and terminate Satans rule.

History is going to terminate and its termination will be visible to everyone on the planet, when Christ actually does return.  And when He actually does return, there will be no parades, no fanfare, no newspaper headlines, but the total destruction of mans worthless rule in history. And billions will die when it does occur.

2 Peter 3:3-4

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,

4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."    NASB

The brave mocking, the ridicule because of no immediate repercussion to their mocking, will all cease in extreme violent blood and death.

And yet return He will, Matt. 16:27; 24:1-25:46; 26:64; Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26.

And everyone has fair warning to be ready for Christ, Matt. 24:42,44; 25:13; Luke 12:40; 21:34-36.

And even from the many first prophecies of the Messiah, Gen. 49:10, the demand for His return is apparent in His required Second Coming, Psa. 2:6-9, Isa. 9:6-7.The Messiah came to die and save, then He must return to be made King.

And as they have said, ‘the Lord who brought up the sons of Israel,’ will be changed to say, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up and led back ...,’ Jer. 23:5-8.

These predictions and more, were not filled with the First Advent of Christ, but require a second advent in order to fulfill their purpose, Dan. 7:13-14,18; Zech 14:4-9; Mal. 4:1-4.

Num. 23:19

19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?    NASB

Jesus Himself promised His own return, Rev. 2:16; 3:11; 22:7,12,20, John 14:2-3.

Jesus Himself portrayed Himself in a parable, as the Nobleman who would one day return to His estate, Lk. 19:11-27.

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth, and through the Holy Spirit all scripture has been revealed to humanity.  The Holy Spirit cannot lie.  The Holy Spirit is God.  John 15:26, 16:13, 14:26, 1 Cor 1:4-8; Phil 3:20-21; Col 3:4; 1 Thess 2:19; James 5:8; 1 Peter 1:13; 1 John 3:2.

Jesus Christ has made a promise to His Church, believers in this current dispensation, that they will not be made to endure the days of testing of the Tribulation.  Thus the rapture is reinforced as the removal of the Church prior to the Tribulation.

Rev 3:10

10 'Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell upon the earth.    NASB

Following the Rapture, Christ will reward believers according to their spiritual lives, Rom 14:10; 1 Cor 3:12-15; 4:5; 2 Cor 5:10; Phil 1:6,10; 2 Tim 1:12,18; 4:8; Rev 11:18.

Resurrected believers, and the glorified Church, will return with Christ at the Second Advent, Rev 19:7-9; cf. 2 Cor 11:2; Eph 5:22-30, Rev 19:14.

The church will be vindicated before the unbelieving world, proving who truly belongs to the Lord, 2 Tim 2:19.

Therefore, in order to escape history’s tribulation, in order to be glorified and rewarded, Christ has to have already gathered up His Church. In order to return with Him at the Second Advent, the Church has to have already been in heaven.  Therefore, the Rapture has to occur prior to the Second Advent.

Christ has a plan for the unbelieving nations.  Christ will rule all of the nations, Psa. 2, Joel 3:1-2,9-17, Isa. 11:1-5; Mic. 4:1-8; Zeph. 3:8; Matt. 25:31-46.

This did not occur at the First Advent, therefore A Second Advent is required for His rule to take place.

Christ has a plan for the nation of Israel, for just as surely as He fixed the pattern of day and night, so too He will not forget the descendants of Israel, Jer. 31:35-37, Jer. 33:25-26.

Israel does not have their ruler yet. He must return in order to rule.Jesus Christ promised deliverance, peace, prosperity, security, and a kingdom.  That was not accomplished at the First Advent.   Therefore a Second Advent is required, Deut. 4:30-31; Isa 9:6-7; 11:11-12; 60:10-14; Jer 23:5-8; 30:1-33:26; 46:28; Ezek 36:1-37:28; 40:1-48:35; Dan 9:20-27; 12:1-3; Hos 2:14-23; 3:4-5; 14:4-7; Joel 3:18-21; Amos 9:8-15; Obad 17,21; Mic 4:8; 7:14-20; Zeph 3:14-20; Zech 13:1-14:21; Matt 19:28; Acts 1:6-7.

At his first advent, Christ was rejected, reviled, abused, spat on, and executed. And yet the Bible states that one day every tongue will confess Christ is Lord, Phil. 2:10-11.This demands a second coming.

Satan is still the ruler of this world, and he uses death to restrict and enslave humanity (death is caused by Satan), John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11, 2 Cor 4:4, Heb 2:14-15.

But Christ will return and reclaim that which is rightfully His and destroy Satan. That requires a second advent, Rev 5:1, Rom 16:20; 1 John 3:8.

And finally, all believers everywhere look to Christ as their hope for eternal life, for their hope to life in heaven, as their hope for no more sorrow, no more tears, no more pain or death, and this requires the return of Christ for everyone's sake, from Adam to the end of the Millennium, 1 Cor 15:19, Titus 2:13, 2 Tim 4:8, John 14:1-3; 1 Thess 4:18.
