Matthew 24:37-41
Lesson # Matt. 24:37-41
Study Material - Matt. 24:37-41
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Matt. 24:37-41
37 But [de] as [hosper] the days [hemera] of Noe [Noe] were, so [houto] shall [esomai] also [kai] the coming [parousia] of the Son [huios] of man [anthropos] be [esomai] .

39 And [kai] knew [ginosko] not [ou] until [heos] the flood [kataklusmos] came [erchomai] , and [kai] took [airo] them all [hapas] away [airo] ; so [houto] shall [esomai] also [kai] the coming [parousia] of the Son [huios] of man [anthropos] be [esomai] .

Matt. 24:37-41
37 'For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 'For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, they were marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 'Then there shall be two men in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left. 41 'Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left.
NASB
This passage, by the way, is not a rapture passage. This is a Second Advent passage. Certainly in the rapture those who will be taken will be believers, and those who are left behind will be only unbelievers. But here the Second Advent is the subject.
In those days, the end of the Tribulation, people will be oblivious to the coming of the Lord. This time is compared to the time immediately preceding the flood in Noah's day. They had 120 years of evangelism by Noah. The Tribulation folks have only seven years.
In Noah's day, there was relative prosperity, but a great deal of negative volition, of indifference to God, to Noah, and to the ark he was building.
Those folks had never seen rain. Rain had not occurred on planet earth prior to the flood, but Noah preached that the rains would come, and that the flood would cover everything and all the people would die.
Folks were indifferent. They ridiculed Noah. 'What is rain? Have you seen any rain? I haven't seen any rain!' And they would laugh and make fun until it was too late. When the ark was finished and the last animal and the last of Noah's family entered the ark, the rain instantly began. They had 120 years of warning.
Now look at the Tribulation and the circumstances within it. Throughout it and at its end, there will be violence, disaster, supernatural events, things that the world has never before seen in all its history. Millions, perhaps billions of people will suddenly be missing due to the rapture. The weather will take it toll on the planet. Earthquakes and storms of tremendous proportions will occur. Demon armies of Satan, some 200 million strong will kill a huge portion of the worlds population.
I suppose everything else could be explained away as some natural event. But the demon armies??? Explain that away. But of course the ones who encounter the demons will die. Those who live will hear of it, but will quickly become indifferent.
Look at today's world events. When things are before us in the news, we pay attention, but sooner or later news gets old and people soon forget. People in general are fickle. Political polls are a good example of this. How can folks favor some, one day, and then not favor them the next?
So the world will be on the verge of collapse, and what is the attitude? People will be doing their daily routines - eating, drinking, marrying, giving away in marriage, as though this is all natural and that there really is a tomorrow. The disasters will soon subside. The wars will soon be over and tomorrow we will all get along with our life.
There will be 144,000 Jewish evangelists out there preaching the gospel, and two very peculiar witnesses in Jerusalem. These two witnesses will be seen on TV, killed, and then they will rise after 3 ½ days, shocking everyone. But what do they do? They change channels or go to the bathroom at the commercial break. Hummm! Wonder what is on the Sci-fi channel?
Daily routine. Check the fridge to see what there is to eat. Go to work. Go visiting the neighbor. Or whatever.
Then things will get dark. Very dark. Attitudes won't change. Wherever people are, judgment comes suddenly. Right up until the return of Christ, people will be indifferent or antagonistic. And when He does return, and all eyes see Him, then do they repent? No. Most do not. Judgment comes and those taken (all unbelievers, and negative believers) will die and be removed from the earth. Unbelievers will go into Torments. The negative believers will go to heaven, of course. Those who remain - this time - will be positive believers who will enter into the Kingdom of God.
The earthly Kingdom will begin with positive believers only. They will repopulate the earth to a population even greater than before. Their life spans will be extended to the entire period of the Millennium (1000 years), and prosperity will be like never before. Jesus Christ is running things.
But in the end, the end of the Tribulation, and despite all of the overwhelming signs of catastrophe and such, people will ignore the obvious. They will explain it away as just another phenomena, just more politics, just another war. 'It will all go away soon. Be patient.' Or so they will think.
Today we have the same issues. Truth is all around us, but people do not get with a Bible study program. Death faces us all everyday. We do not know the hour of our own demise, yet folks live as though tomorrow will always be there. Then suddenly we are old and wonder where all those years went to.
We play games with life. We compromise Gods standards for something, we think, more are compatible with our thoughts and desires. Then the end comes and it is too late for us. So now, get with a program, and get serious about complying with all three of Gods commands of responsibility for every believer. We have studied them all before - responsibility to God, to self, to others, and the details relating to each of these.
In the resurrection, which will come, you will be evaluated on your spiritual life, or lack thereof. You are not evaluated on what others do or do not do. You alone are evaluated on yourself and what you do or do not do with respect to your spiritual growth and your application of your spiritual life to your daily life.
What is at stake? Tremendous 'additional' blessings 'beyond imagination.' Those who advance in their spiritual life will receive these. Those who do not will just get the basic heaven package. That basic package is of course great, but there is an infinitely greater package of blessings waiting, and qualifying for them is very easy. Just study and grow up spiritually, apply what you learn to your daily life, and be obedient to God. Anyone can achieve this.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
