Lesson # Matt. 24:30-31 Study Material - Matt. 24:30-31 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Matt. 24:30-31 30 And [kai] then [tote] shall appear [phaino] the sign [semeion] of the Son [huios] of man [anthropos] in [en] heaven [ouranos] : and [kai] then [tote] shall [kopto] all [pas] the tribes [phule] of the earth [ge] mourn [kopto] , and [kai] they shall see [optanomai] the Son [huios] of man [anthropos] coming [erchomai] in [epi] the clouds [nephele] of heaven [ouranos] with [meta] power [dunamis] and [kai] great [polus] glory [doxa] . 31 And [kai] he shall send [apostello] his [autos] angels [aggelos] with [meta] a great [megas] sound [phone] of a trumpet [salpigx] , and [kai] they shall gather together [episunago] his [autos] elect [eklektos] from [ek] the four [tessares] winds [anemos] , from [apo] one end [akron] of heaven [ouranos] to [heos] the other [akron] [autos] . KJV-Interlinear Matt. 24:30-31 30 and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. 31 'And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. NAS This will be the single most awesome event in all of history. Except perhaps for the creation of the universe, which angels were witness to, and the creation of a new universe which we will be witness to in the future. But these two events do not bring the sense of relief and happiness that the Second Advent will bring to those who have endured through the long seven years of the Tribulation. The Tribulation is still a future time period and will begin immediately following the Rapture. If you are a believer in Christ, then you will not see the Tribulation. You'll be in heaven undergoing your evaluation before Christ, based on your spiritual growth (Hummm, better get with the program!!!). Followed of course by a very long wedding feast (3 ½ years of feasting - the big party). Now we borrow from yesterdays lesson. The world will come to an extremely climatic point in its history. The evil will be unsurpassed, and because of the extreme darkness of soul in humanity, God brings total darkness on the entire planet. 'And it will come about in that day that there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. For it will be a unique day which is known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.' Zech. 14:6-7, Jere. 30:7. Interesting isn't it? That we have studied many passages over the years. Many passages which clearly define and describe the events of the last days. Yet the experts, the Pharisees and such, were selective in what they wanted to believe would occur when the Kingdom finally came. They rejected the sacrificial lamb concept yet they sold lambs for profit in the Temple courtyard, for the sacrifices. What were those sacrifices for anyway? Clueless or perhaps extreme defiance toward truth is a more accurate description of their attitude. People are no different in our current day. But Jesus has stated that His return would not be, until there was a generation (of Jews) who would look to Him as the Messiah, the only Son of God, the only means of access to God. 'And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping over a first-born. In that day there will be great mourning in Jerusalem.' Zech 12:10-11. It will take many thousands of years (1973 years and counting, thus far), plus the many centuries of defiant stiff necked attitude they demonstrated toward God in the times before Christ's First Advent. Yet there will come a time, a generation of Jews, who will not be so defiant and they will weep with sorrow and happiness in the last days of the Tribulation. Then ... The world will be engulfed in unparalleled war. Satan who has taken possession of the anti-christ, will be out to kill anyone and everyone - Jew first, Christian second, and anyone else who even looks the wrong way. All of humanity is at risk, and Satan cares not if humanity totally destroys itself. Suddenly darkness will overcome the entire world. A reflection of the total darkness of soul worldwide. The laws of nature set aside. No light will come from any source. Furthermore, the foundations of the world will shake. A worldwide earthquake and more. Panic, fear, and terror don't even come close to describing the scene. Then as you would look up on a very dark night, when lightning streaks across the sky, so will it be the appearance of the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. This will not be just a sign, but it will be Jesus Christ Himself, in all His radiant, infinite, and undiminished glory. The sight will be more than awesome and unmistakable. It will be very real. Just as the disasters and violence of the day will be unparalleled in history, so too, will be the coming of the Lord in all of His manifested glory, and power. Most of the world will fall into extreme terror followed by utter hate and defiance against God, cursing and blaspheming, rather than utter repentance. What will be seen? Again we look to Isaiah. Isa. 19:1, 'The oracle concerning Egypt. Behold, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud, and is about to come to Egypt; The idols of Egypt will tremble at His presence, And the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them.' And then Rev. 19:14, 'And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.' In the midst of the total darkness will come the light of the world. All will be able to see exactly who Jesus Christ is. He will not he alone. When He ascended over 1900 years ago, He ascended into the clouds, but when He returns, He will return with clouds. Those clouds will be you and me and all other believers from the Church Age. We are Royal Family of God, and as such, Royalty rides into battle. The common soldier walks or runs into battle. Only those of rank, and royalty, ride. We will be upon our white war horses. And you know that a war horse which has been bred and trained for battle rides swiftly into battle. Nothing can stop him when the smell of the fight gets into their nostrils. We will streak across the universe, from heaven to planet earth, for a 'just in time' rescue of those who are awaiting Gods promise. And when we arrive, we Believers in the Royal Family, will just sit and watch. Christ will utterly destroy every defiant human being where they stand. Angels will sort them all out, believer and unbeliever. Goats (those who reject Christ) to the left, sheep (those who believe in Christ) to the right, Matt. 25:33. Those who reject God, will be chained, as Satan will be chained, and hauled off to a permanent prison of eternal and perpetual destruction. Those believers who remain alive and will enter into the Millennium, will be gathered by the angels and brought from the four corners of the world, to Jerusalem (the city of peace) and Christ.
