Matthew 15:28

Lesson # Matt. 15:28
Study Material - Matt. 15:28

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Matt. 15:28

28 Then [tote] Jesus [Iesous] answered [apokrinomai] and said [epo] unto her [autos] , O [o] woman [gune] , great [megas] is thy [sou] faith [pistis] : be it [ginomai] unto thee [soi] even as [hos] thou wilt [thelo] . And [kai] her [autos] daughter [thugater] was made whole [iaomai] from [apo] that very [ekeinos] hour [hora] . KJV-Interlinear

Matt. 15:28

28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, 'O woman, your faith is great; be it done for you as you wish.' And her daughter was healed at once. NAS

Jere. 29:13, 'And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

The woman had a genuine desire for God and kept on pressing Him until He granted her request. She was not rude, but was humble. She was not obnoxious, but persisted in accordance with Gods will, not her own will.

'Ask and you will receive', is an often misunderstood verse. People use it to get what they want, or they think that is what they are doing. But all too often their faith is one of convenience.

The woman was faced with what most people are faced with throughout their lives - silence or inaction, and human prejudice. Jesus did not answer her at first, and Jesus tested her with the common attitude of the day. She was a dog as far as the Pharisees were concerned. But her faith held up and she prevailed.

What do we learn? All of us have handicaps of one type or another. Or at least form the human point of view we all have handicaps. Some of us were born the wrong color. Some of us were born with physical impairments. Some of us just aren't smart enough for the world and we get left behind. Most of us fall in the middle of all this - we are the common folk, the middle class of the world. We aren't the beautiful people. We aren't the rich and famous. We don't make the headlines. But we do fill up the highways during our commute to and from work. One of millions and lost in the shuffle. How can we be anything in life except for our monthly pay, our entertainment schedule, and our retirement plans?

Life goes on day after day and it is often a dull repetitive life. Where is the excitement? Where is the action? Where is the parting of the sea in our life such that all can see 'us?' But alas, there is no front page hero coming out of our life.

We did not have any say in our birth. We do not generally have much say in the course of our life. We are limited by our IQ, our education, our connections, and some luck as it were. If we are in the right place at the right time, then we might get something good out of it all. And all of this is true ... Or is it?

Do we focus on the jungle aspect of our existence, because that is what the above seems to apply to, or should we look to something higher, something where we might have a say in our future?

And of course you all are so smart, you would guess that there is something better to life, but it does come with a price. A convenient spiritual life is not going to cut it. There are responsibilities attached to Gods plan for your life.

First, no one can get upset when things don't go right for them. No one can use their life's circumstances as an excuse. That is a total cop out and an indication that you are very low on the faith scale.

Second, bitterness is not allowed. So someone ran over the cat, burned the toast, your spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend did you a wrong, you did not get whatever it was you thought you should have had in life, you have been had over and over in life, you were born defective in some way, and that list goes on and on. So what! We can react and cry in our soup all our life and just what is that going to accomplish, or we can take a different and proactive course of action.

The woman was the target of arrogant prejudice, which by the way, was never going to change, and she lived in a society of idol worshipers where nothing good would ever come out of it - the silence aspect of the encounter.

So our answer in life as it was with the woman, is to look to the spiritual side of our life. First to salvation because that is where the spiritual life begins, and I presume that most all of those reading this have already accomplished in their life. Second, to spiritual growth which includes continued residence within the fellowship sphere. And third to being obedient to the three areas of responsibility - to God, to self, to others.

If you have a deep and genuine desire to advance in your spiritual life, then you will comply. If you are a Christian of convenience, then you will find excuses for not complying with selective aspects of Gods will.

What is at stake? A lot.

There is an infinite difference in the destinies between being an unbeliever and a believer - lake of fire verses heaven. Likewise there is an infinite difference between the blessings that will be awarded to mature believers and to immature believers. You can probably comprehend the difference between the lake of fire and heaven, but the differences between the rewards of maturity and immaturity are not so easily comprehended, simply because the rewards of maturity are beyond imagination (above and beyond all we can think or ask). That is what is at stake.

You did not have any choice in the circumstances of your birth, but you do have a choice in defining the circumstances of your eternal life ...

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
