Matthew 13:58
Lesson # Matt. 13:58
Study Material - Matt. 13:58
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Matt. 13:58
58 And [kai] he did [poieo] not [ou] many [polus] mighty works [dunamis] there [ekei] because [dia] of their [autos] unbelief [apistia] . KJV-Interlinear
Matt. 13:58
58 And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief. NAS
There is a potential pipeline that runs from heaven directly to each individual. That pipeline remains closed when negative volition rules a persons life. Only positive volition opens up the flood gates such that blessings flow freely to anyone who is positive toward God.
The people of Nazareth were so negative, that they were ruled by their arrogance which leads to superficial and shallow attitudes. They were offended rather than honored by the presence of Christ. Their priorities were all mixed up.
We are all the recipients of blessing in some form from God. We have all received life. We have all received the opportunity to live in heaven in great happiness and prosperity, far greater than the world has ever seen, therefore we owe God at least a hearing before we close our minds to what He has to offer. We should open our minds up to whatever alternatives are available and then discovering that there are no alternatives we should of course choose God who offers everything, over choosing nothing.
A person doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out.
Jesus performed miracle after miracle. The miracles were given to believer and unbeliever alike. The miracles did not save, and were certainly not the answer to anyone's ultimate needs. The miracles were intended to brings everyone's attention to the one (Christ) performing the miracles, and after getting their attention, to have everyone listen to the message which He taught. That message was the gospel and doctrine. The gospel for salvation (for unbelievers) and doctrine for spiritual growth (for believers).
When people are negative toward God, that negative attitude carries through into their life. They not only handicap their spiritual life, but they handicap their life here on earth as well. The blessing pipeline from God shuts down and the jungle rules take over. Since the jungle provides nothing significant in the life, ones life is little more than miserable. People who sustain a defiant and negative attitude toward God, will be the recipients of Gods common grace (that grace which is available to all humans on earth), but nothing more. We will all have the air to breath, and water to drink. But the extra blessings that accompany the spiritual life are withheld. Since the functioning spiritual life is the only aspect of ones life that carries significance and meaning, then a person who remains defiant and against God either as an unbeliever or as a negative believer, will live an insignificant and empty life.
And as Jesus left Nazareth so too He will leave the life of the defiantly negative person. Unbelievers are left destined to the lake of fire, and believers who do not advance in their spiritual life are left to a miserable life here on earth, then they will enter into heaven with nothing in their soul - consequently forfeiting any eternal 'extra' blessings they might have received. We've already studied that in the first three chapters of Revelation.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
