Matthew 12:36-37
Lesson # Matt. 12:36-37
Study Material - Matt. 12:36-37
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Matt. 12:36-37
36 But [de] I say [lego] unto you [humin] , That [hoti] every [pas] idle [argos] word [rhema] that [hos] [ean] men [anthropos] shall speak [laleo] , they shall give [apodidomi] account [logos] thereof [peri] [autos] in [en] the day [hemera] of judgment [krisis] .
37 For [gar] by [ek] thy [sou] words [logos] thou shalt be justified [dikaioo] , and [kai] by [ek] thy [sou] words [logos] thou shalt be condemned [katadikazo] . KJV-Interlinear
Matt. 12:36-37
36 'And I say to you, that every careless word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgment. 37 'For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.' NAS
Now here is a test to see if you have been paying attention to these studies. True or false. A man is saved by his words? False. A man will go to heaven because of his words? False. A man will go to the lake of fire because of his words? False.
Ok, do what does justified and condemned by ones words mean then? Ok, again, what have we been studying here? What are words a product of? The content of the soul. What comes first, the souls content or the words produced from that soul? The souls content comes first.
How then does this passage say that one is condemned or justified by his words? The words are evidence of the status of ones soul. That combined with ones actions in life, give observable and verifiable proof to all (who are not God) such that there is no question in the minds of observers that Gods plan is very fair, and right.
We are saved by faith in Christ. This is mentioned in many passages. Once saved we have the opportunity to advance in our spiritual life. Those that believe and choose to advance will have information in their soul (learned information) and this information will eventually overflow into their overt words and actions in life. This gives observers (angels as well as mankind) visible proof or verification as to the spiritual status of the individual. Not that we need it for that individuals sake, but there are records in heaven that contain every thought, every word, every action of every person who has and will ever live in human history. See Rev. 20 as the books (plural) are opened - the book of life, and the book of works.
Every person who has ever been born has had their name listed in the book of life. Likewise all their life's evidence is recorded in the book of works. When they die, if they have believed in Christ, then their name remains in the book of life and is evidence of their admission into heaven. If they die without believing in Christ, then their name is blotted out of the book of life. Their name remains only in the book of works which renders proof as to their lack of belief in Christ as well as to sum total of all their efforts in life (good human deeds or bad makes no difference). They are thus condemned to the lake of fire by their own works. Human works which by the way do not measure up to the works of God. Man by his own effort cannot attain a level equal to or even acceptable with God.
A persons words are evidence of the spiritual content (or lack thereof) in their soul.
Likewise, a believers words (and actions) are a reliable evidence of their spiritual growth (or lack thereof) toward spiritual maturity. Just as unbelievers are judged at the Great White Throne, so also, believers will be 'evaluated' at the Judgment Seat of Christ. The Great White Throne is not the place to ever be. Only unbelievers will attend that judgment. The Judgment Seat of Christ is where we want to be for sure.
But at Christ's Judgment Seat we will be evaluated based on our spiritual growth (or lack thereof). To those who have invested a little in their spiritual life, then little (additional blessings) will be given. To those who have invested a lot (advancement to spiritual maturity) in their spiritual life, then a great deal (tremendous additional blessings) will be given, Rev 1-3.
One of our many objectives in advancing in our spiritual life is to receive a 'great' evaluation from Christ. Of course there is the objective of having a better life here in this world, too.
God is fair. By mans own words, each person will give testimony of their spiritual state. People will either demonstrate proof of their faith, or they will condemn themselves by their own words (which reflect their souls status. There is no one else to blame. Each person is their own witness either for or against themselves in this angelic conflict. Millions of angels observe us daily and they will all know just where each one of us stands and conclude that God indeed is fair.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
