Lesson # Matt. 10:39
Study Material - Matt. 10:39
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Matt. 10:39
39 He that findeth [heurisko] his [autos] life [psuche] shall lose [apollumi] it [autos] : and [kai] he that loseth [apollumi] his [autos] life [psuche] for my [emou] sake [heneka] shall find [heurisko] it [autos] .
KJV-Interlinear
Matt. 10:39
39 'He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it. NAS
When Alexander the Great approached Jerusalem, the elders of the city came out to meet him. They, among other things, explained and let him see the prophecy of Daniel which dealt with the Greek Empire, and they answered ten questions, which Alexander asked. Among those ten were these two. 'What shall a man do that he may live?' They answered, 'Let him put himself to death.' His second question, 'What shall a man do that he may die?' Their reply, 'Let him make himself alive.'
Some three hundred years before Christ, they understood Gods Word. In order that you may live, that is, that any of us might live into eternity with God, then we must die to the pattern of this world (identification with Christ on the Cross), leaving behind and separating ourselves from a pattern of life without God.
And to enter into life, true life with God, we must make ourselves alive again (born again). You thought that the term 'born again' was a contemporary term. Not so. Alexander understood His question and, the answer he received. He did not ask naive questions like, 'Must I re-enter into my mothers womb again?'
By now we should already understand that there are but two opinions in existence. Gods opinion is the first, and all other opinions make up the second.
All other opinions are made up of those of Satan, of the various philosophies of mankind, of he various empirical views of science. Science can be truth if it is objective, ie. math, physics and so forth. But when theories like evolution raise their heads, then scientific opinion becomes false despite the fact that there may be a tremendous amount of truthful observations. It is just that the interpretations are incorrect.
So in this world we have a mixture of truth and false. Mathematics for example is truth, 2+2=4 (in base ten). God invented math. But the theory that all of the universe is riding on a foundation of math is false. Math did not invent the universe, nor did math invent itself. Remember that it was God who designed and then created the universe, not the components of the universe.
There are but two patterns of life from which to choose. The first is a pattern which rejects God. The second is a pattern of life which is obedient with Gods will.
The first may have many influences from the Bible, ie. morals, integrity, marriage and so forth. Unbelievers can be virtuous and law abiding citizens. The influence of Biblical principles has reached into society around the world and its influence exists. In some countries that influence is tremendous. In other countries, such as some third world countries, the influence of the Bible is far less. In countries where the Bible is not prevalent, then you'll find many adversities and injustices and immoralities. In countries where the Bible is a strong influence, you'll find freedom and prosperity.
We all have a choice between these two life styles from which to choose. We can pursue life without God, and here is the outcome - you will lose you life. As an unbeliever you will die. Everyone will die sooner or later. At that point, death, your choices end and your destiny in eternal misery will begin. There will be no turning back. The ultimate loss.
As a believer who just turns sour against God and takes the road of life without God, then your life will be miserable and then you will die. What do you lose in eternity. You do go to heaven, but you go there with a very poor evaluation. You will face Christ at the Judgment Seat of Christ and you will see your 'bonus' blessings (Rev. 1-3) vanish into nothing. Another big loss.
On the other hand, if you have believed in Christ and sooner or later get with a daily study program, then you have the ultimate opportunity for maximum blessing both in time (this physical life) and in eternity. The ultimate blessing.
Opportunity? Because it all depends on your daily decision to study. It all depends on your daily decision to learn. That means paying attention. That means pondering, weighing, considering what you learn. It means using what you learn, in your daily life - being honest, truthful, responsible, fair, unbiased and so forth. It means facing life's problems and interpreting them in a fashion consistent with the Bible. Fear not! It means being confident, relaxed, not worried about anything in life because God is doing all the driving and all the providing.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
