Matthew 10:29-31
Lesson # Matt. 10:29-31
Study Material - Matt. 10:29-31
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Matt. 10:29-31
29 Are [poleo] not [ouchi] two [duo] sparrows [strouthion] sold [poleo] for a farthing [assarion] ? and [kai] one [heis] of [ek] them [autos] shall [pipto] not [ou] fall [pipto] on [epi] the ground [ge] without [aneu] your [humon] Father [pater] .
30 But [de] the very [kai] hairs [thrix] of your [humon] head [kephale] are [eisi] all [pas] numbered [arithmeo] .
31 Fear ye [phobeo] not [me] therefore [oun] , ye [humeis] are of more value [diaphero] than many [polus] sparrows [strouthion] . KJV-Interlinear
Matt. 10:29-31
29 'Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 'But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 'Therefore do not fear; you are of more value than many sparrows. NAS
An assarion was the smallest coin in Christ's time. It was worth about 1/16 the value of a denarius. A denarius was the average day's pay for a common laborer. So in todays value, a low paid farm worker for example might get 5 dollars per hour, times an 8 hour working day that would be 40 dollars. One-sixteenth of that would be 2.50, or about 1/2 of one hours pay. That would buy one very 'small' burger and a fry and a small drink on bargain day. If you are lucky. By the way, the price for one sparrow is half or 1/32 of a denarius. You can figure it out in your own currency.
God keeps track of the sparrows. We look at sparrows with little interest as a general rule. They are everywhere and we take them for granted. We ignore them. God does not. He keeps track of the smallest of details in this universe, even things in which we have no interest.
A quick look up on the internet tells us that the average number of hairs on a human head is around 150,000. If you are bald, then you count is considerably below the average. If you are a full headed blond, then that suggests an answer to your thinking problem. Couldn't hold that one back!!
We comb our hair and lose a few, and we think nothing of it. A hair falls out of our head even without our knowledge and we think nothing of it. But God knows each hair on you head, even the count, at all times, yet they are really insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
We came from Adam who came from the dust. Adam means red worthless useless dust. That is the picture of mankind in his state of righteousness. Man is useless and his righteousness is useless. So what is it in man that would cause God to give us value?
Faith.
Apart from faith we are nothing, but with faith, then we are family of God and in this dispensation, we are Royal Family of God. What belongs to God is of great value, and God takes very good care of that which belongs to Him.
Therefore the continuation of the lesson of this chapter. Fear not.
There is nothing in this life, nor in this universe that can take away from God, that which belongs to Him. The world will try, but it will be in vain. The world and all its philosophies walk in darkness, a state of un-enlightenment. The world has nothing to offer and it has no power to take away. The world is no threat.
So what does this do for us? What ever your problems in life - medical, marriage, financial, social, paranoia, boredom, status or lack of it (hummm must be some more categories), and so forth, then these problems are of no consequence.
Our life is temporary on this planet. Our eternal life is of greater value, therefore as we move through this life, we need to prepare ourselves and invest in the next. Simultaneously, God will help and guide us through this life.
God teaches us through out daily Bible study. God trains us through the various encounters we will face in life. And the result is our advance to spiritual maturity and the high ground of victory in this angelic conflict. Hummm. Maybe a little deep. Need more jokes! There once was a farmer who had this daughter .....
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
