Matthew 5:10-12
Lesson # Matt. 5:10-12
Study Material - Matt. 5:10-12
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Matt. 5:10-12
10 'Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 'Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Me. 12 'Rejoice, and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Persecutions come for the sake of righteousness first, and for the sake of Christ second. Righteousness in you is the result of your initial faith in Christ. It is your salvation. So every believer in this world, in history, is subject to persecution of some type or another.
Now persecution is probably not what you are thinking. Persecution is merely the pressures and difficulties we face throughout life. But as believers we are faced with these trials of various sorts, and with our position as Christians, we face these either with or without doctrine in our souls. Every attack against you is an attack against God. You being 'family of God' as a Christian.
Since you are saved, then all pressures you face in life are against Gods righteousness. That righteousness having been imputed to you at the point of your salvation, and since the world (satanic viewpoint as well as human viewpoint) are inherently against God.
You will face pressures in life after you are saved. You still live in this world. You still have a body of flesh. You still are in need of food, clothing, shelter, income, medical needs and so forth. You still have to deal with your own thoughts, with other people, with bureaucracies, with weather, with everything in life. Nothing magic happened to you at the moment you believed in Christ that exempted you from the environmental issues you face in life. Except for one thing. As an unbeliever you were on your own, with no help possible except that which the jungle gives to you. And we know that life in the jungle is hit and miss at best.
As a believer, then you have the potential of help from God. That is, if you are in fellowship and also advancing toward maturity. Then, in this case, you have additional resources and protections from God, with which to face the problems of this life.
Being persecuted for the sake of Christ is a reference to those believers who have advanced in their spiritual lives. Christ in you is a reference that Paul uses to designate a mature believer. There again, even as mature believers we are not exempted from the pressures of life, but we have the capacity and still more resources with which to face even greater difficulties in life.
God is able to demonstrate that even you, with Bible doctrine in your soul, can survive even the greatest of disasters in life, and you will sail through those difficult times with flying colors. This is not to make you worry, but is intended to make you confident. That no matter what happens in life, either to you, to your family, to your work, or business, or whatever that is connected to you, that God has a solution to whatever that problem might be. No matter how small or how great.
God is greater than anything in this universe. Anything and everything that you face, is no challenge to Gods abilities. Therefore, in Bible doctrine, there is no basis for worry, no basis for stress, no basis for anxiety, no basis for disappointment, no basis for self pity, no basis for anything negative. No basis for unhappiness.
Bible study is intended for happiness (blessed), it is intended for eternity (kingdom of heaven), it is intended for a relaxed mental state (comfort), it is intended for confidence (maturity), it is intended for capacity (inheritance), it is intended for a relationship with God (fellowship), it is intended for facing pressures with strength (persecution).
Thus is your Christian way of life. The study of Bible doctrine everyday throughout your life, in order to attain the objective of spiritual maturity and all of the characteristics, benefits, and blessings that go along with it.
Your wages originate from heaven. Some are paid to you in this life. The vast majority of your blessings will come to you in eternity. Everything else in this life is just filler - waiting on the Lord.
The sequence of the perfect life is physical birth, physical growth combined with mental growth toward physical and mental maturity, awareness of God and positive volition toward God, faith in Jesus Christ, study of Bible doctrine, residence in fellowship with God and spiritual growth to maturity, receipt of blessings and passing various tests with flying colors in life, physical death and off to heaven and face to face with the Lord, resurrection at the rapture and facing Christ at the Judgment Seat of Christ, honor and rewards and decorations issued to you from Christ at that Judgment Seat of Christ on behalf of the doctrine resident in your soul as well as the gold, silver and precious stones (representing your application of doctrine to your life while alive on this earth), the honor of serving Christ during the Millennium, and finally living with all three members of the Godhead indwelled inside of you for all of eternity.
And as always the choice for this destiny is in your hands. All unbelievers are in the group that can be called the stupidest of the stupid. Not because they don't know of these things, but because they knowingly reject the truth of these things. All believers who ignore God after they have become saved, all believers who do not advance in their spiritual lives, belong to the dumb and dumber group. Not because they are dumb, but because they knowingly ignore the truth of Bible study.
No one has an excuse in this life for not advancing to spiritual maturity and seizing the rewards that God has waiting in heaven for each one of us. If you could bet a dollar on the only horse in a one horse race, to show, and with a billion to one odds, you would of course take that bet. It is a sure thing with a tremendous payoff. Bible study is that sure thing and it is a reality with the certainty of the biggest payoff beyond anything that you can imagine.
The prophets went before us and therefore Bible doctrine has been around since Adam and even prior into eternity past. Bible doctrine has never changed. It has always been here. It will always be here. Everything else in life comes and goes, but Gods Word is here to stay.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
