Lesson # Matt. 4:23-25 Study Material - Matt. 4:23-25 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Matt. 4:23-25 23 And Jesus was going about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people. 24 And the news about Him went out into all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, taken with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them. 25 And great multitudes followed Him from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan. Isa. 35:5 and following. The sick will be healed, and so it was. Josephus, in the first century, indicated that their were over 200 communities of varying sizes in the region of Galilee. That Galilee was a cross roads of commerce. So Jesus Christ, walked this region where there was positive volition and His reputation spread to beyond its borders, not only into Syria, but elsewhere. People came from near and far, first to be healed of their infirmities, but to receive spiritual instruction. Many believed in Christ. Many did not. Many listened to His words. Many only wanted their immediate relief. Jesus is the God if this universe. He has power and control over all things. He cured the illnesses of the body. He cured the mental illnesses of the mind. He cured the thought defects of the soul. People came to Him with their medical problems of body, insanity, and demon possessions. With only a word, they were healed instantly. All of nature and even the demons in the angelic realm obey when Christ speaks. Though He performed many miracles which could be seen. These healings are indications of the real problems that infect us all within our souls. The body has its illnesses, but the soul has its illnesses too. And sin and the products of sin are to the soul, what diseases of various sorts are to the body. Just as there are many types of disease, many types of handicaps, infirmities and so forth that can attack the body and mind, so also, there are many types of sin which can attack the soul. What one person is immune to, another finds his weakness. One may never steal, yet another may be hard pressed to resist stealing. Life is full of examples of strengths and weaknesses - smoking, drinking, drugs, perpetual lying. The list can be as long as your imagination. Some people have strength in some areas and weaknesses in others. Not everyone is the same in the world of sin, but all are weak in the world of sin. Death has the final say over the will of man. Jesus Christ is the source and the power over sin and death. His cure is instant and permanent. What God does, no one can undo. We have seen the general call to all of mankind - the gospel - believe in Jesus Christ and be saved. We have seen the more specific call to believers - Bible doctrine - study, learn and grow up spiritually. We have seen the intimate call of Christ to positive believers - advance to maturity and enter into the unique program which God has specifically designed for your life. We are all potential writers and teachers of Bible doctrine. Whether to our children, family members, friends or strangers, it makes no difference. What you know you can pass on to others. What you do not know, you cannot pass on again. We all have credentials of sorts. Whether we work with our hands or minds, whether we work in the top of the tower, or in the basement, whether inside or out, these things make no difference. Our real objective in life is to get ourselves to spiritual maturity. To that end we all have equal opportunity, and equal access to God and to His grace. Advancement to maturity is not dependent on human ability or means. Christ is able to conquer all obstacles - no exceptions. So the call is out - it is always out there for the taking. Do we stay home in our sin nature environment, fishing in life with nets that break, or do we throw them down, change our attitude and turn to a consistent plan of Bible study which will lead us to knew territories, unexplored for each of us personally, and discover the other world, the spiritual world which God invented, in eternity past, for each one of us?
