Mark 3:24-26
24 'And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 'And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 'And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished! NAS
A kingdom is an entire region, a collection of cities, of families, of individuals, with a common government ruling all.
A house is a family of individuals whose bond between them is generally their blood or personal relationship between them. Their realm is the home and the rulership comes from the parents.
The individual is the simplest of all entities. The individual is a self contained unit consisting, in its completed form, of a body, soul and spirit. Its authority is the volition, or the right to decide.
Each of these three have policies that provide guidance of function. If the policies are sound, then there is prosperity and peace within. If the policies are not sound, then there is conflict. If the observation of the sound policies is observed, then there is freedom and again, peace. If there is conflict and policies are disregarded, then there are problems within.
Bible doctrine is the surest standard of good sound policies. Nations that create legislation that is compatible with Bible doctrine will be sound nations. Sound doctrine for example calls for respect for authority, law and order, freedom, liberty, justice, fair and honest interaction between peoples and so forth.
If national legislation calls for things that run counter to sound doctrine, ie. socialism runs counter to freedom and self determination and rights to ownership of property and such, then that nation will be weak. It will fail. We have seen many an example of communistic nations which have failed and continue to fail in their existence.
Satan has designed his kingdom around deceit, lies, exaggerations, contempt of anything and everything. It is weak at every point and will fall or cave in on itself eventually. But Satan is no fool. He tries to win victories and does not give up ground he feels he has won.
Jesus Christ has demonstrated his opposition and war against Satan every time He came into contact with a possessed person. He has ordered the demons out regardless of their protests or feeble attempts to condescend to Him.
If a nation is at war, then it does not give up ground it wins, unless of course that nation suffers from poor leadership. Politicians are generally considered the weak link within any fighting nation. Especially when their debate is centered on their own elections to office rather than a consensus on a national policy against a common enemy.
If Satan were His master, then Jesus would be recruiting people for possession, rather than defeating them at every turn.
Satan represents the greatest of conflicts in the universe, the angelic conflict. Nations represent the largest unit of preservation for humanity. The existence of many nations provides a security for peoples around the world and helps to prevent or limit the take over of large groups by evil rulers. Families provide the safe environment for the raising of children. Volition provides the safe environment of the individual.
All of these are driven and guided by policies or standards or guidelines of function. Bible doctrine is the safest standard and basis for a sound existence. If that standard is learned and followed, then the individual or nation will prosper. If the standards of Bible doctrine are disregarded, then problems arise.
The first principle of self destruction, or an entity (be it an individual, family, nation) rising up against itself, and thus destroying itself, comes from the conflict which arises from within due to poor doctrine contained within. The best of doctrine and therefore the best of sound policy comes from Bible doctrine, of course. The poorest of doctrines and therefore poor policy comes from the disregard of Bible doctrine and the embracing of many liberal or otherwise earthly philosophies which are typically based on some form of lust pattern of sin (power lust, sex lust, criminal lust, approbation lust, righteousness lust, control lust, and so forth).
Jesus counters the accusation made against Him by demonstrating His consistency of action and policy against demons. The accusations were never motivated on fact but based on selfish intent. Consequently just as Satan will be finished based on his poor foundation of lack of truth, so also these scribes will fail in life because of their reliance on their argumentative stand against Christ.
Here is our principle of doctrine. If we are consistent within ourselves, in our Bible study, and the correct application thereof, then we will never fail (spiritually) in life. If, on the other hand, we reject our Bible study, or disregard the principles taught by the Bible, or just give small or passing attention to our spiritual lives, then our soul will be divided against itself (the carnal vs. the spiritual) and we will have turmoil throughout our lives.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
