Mark 1:14-15
Lesson # Mark 1:14-15
Study Material - Mark 1:14-15
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Mark 1:14-15
14 And after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15 and saying, 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.'
Matthew recites the prophecy from Isaiah. Here Mark takes up the historical account of Jesus following His time in the dessert. But remember, if you have been following the chronology of the gospels in this study, nearly a year and a half have passed between the dessert and the time of the arrest of John the Baptist.
Matthew teaches Christ from the perspective of His Kingship. Jesus Christ is the King of Kings. Mark looks at Jesus Christ from the perspective of His role as a servant. Luke looks at Jesus Christ from His role as a man. And John looks at Jesus as God.
All are titles and roles that Jesus Christ fulfilled. All are referred to in these passages written by Mark as well as Matthew. The time is fulfilled. Repent and believe.
The time is now - the time of Christ's first advent, the time of your exposure to Bible doctrine. He, Jesus Christ, came into the world by means of a virgin pregnancy. He grew up a son of a carpenter, a poor man, a son of royalty, a descendant of David, a son of deity, the Son of God, a son of man, a son of Adam.
He subordinated Himself to the Cross on behalf of mankind. He subjected himself to the punishment for mans sins. In the first 24 hours of His human life, literally dozens of prophecies were fulfilled, and could have only been fulfilled during that 24 hour period surrounding His birth. At the point of the Cross, dozens more prophecies were fulfilled and could only have been fulfilled during that period when He was hung on the Cross.
No other person in history could have qualified as even a fake Christ because of the prophecies previously foretold, and especially the exact time frames given by Daniel as to the birth of Christ, the death of Christ, and the many other requirements which could have only been fulfilled By Jesus Christ, son of David. Descended down from David from both sides of his parents. From Solomon to Joseph, and from Nathan to Mary.
Since the first promise given to Adam, referring to a savior, some 4000 years prior. Through over 1600 years prior to the flood to the time of Noah. Then subsequent to the flood to Abraham to the nation of Israel, to the kingdom of David to the Time of Christ. Prophecy after prophecy foretold of the coming of the Christ, the details of his life, the details of his birth, the details of his death.
If you have been with this study for very long, then you have seen with your own eyes, the very words that others read centuries ago, actually thousands of years ago. These same words even though written in different languages, have all said the same thing. They have all foretold the same thing - the coming of Christ and the fulfillment of prophecy.
Those who lived in that time, the priests and those they taught, should have known the significance of their time. But Jesus was born with very little notice taken. Only a few wise men, from a foreign land no less, knew of the birth and of its significance. A few others, a hand full, knew of and understood the significance of the birth of Christ, and the time in which they lived.
God has a plan and He does not look at history with a haphazard view, making changes on the fly as it were. Everything is very well organized and everything is very well disclosed, and disclosed prior to its occurrence. People have no excuse.
The time is fulfilled and documented such that everyone who hears the gospel, should change their minds to an attitude of positive response to the gospel and believe in Christ in order to secure their salvation and insure their life in heaven in eternity.
So this is what Jesus taught while in Capernaum, the cross roads of Jew and Gentile. This is where the positive response existed. Not in Jerusalem, the city of peace, where the gospel teaching should have been the first priority and the first thing on everyone's mind. Yet politics, economics, pleasure were the order of the day in Jerusalem, not Bible doctrine. The priests and political leaders were more interested in holding on to their false concepts of position and power. While Jesus was to the north teaching the truth about life and the future of each person. Those who listen reach an understanding of discernment between the promises of this world, and the promises of Bible doctrine.
Jesus as a servant was ministering to the people in the outer places of the nation. Those priests who should have been ministering to the people in Jerusalem and elsewhere, were only interested in the people serving them.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
