Lesson # John 3:30-33 Study Material - John 3:30-33 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. John 3:30-33 30 'He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 'He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 'What He has seen and heard, of that He bears witness; and no man receives His witness. 33 'He who has received His witness has set his seal to this, that God is true. The glory of Christ does and must far surpass all other glories. Christ must increase, as anything from creation must decrease. The priorities in life are God first, then everything else will be put in its proper place. As we become oriented to life and realize that everything around us is not simply a product of some chance happening in evolution. As we realize that there really is a designer of the universe and a creator of all that exists. As we realize that there really is a plan, a well organized plan for life and each of us. Then we are faced with the question of where does the credit and honor really belong? Do we look to ourselves, to the ability of mankind to search out and discover new technologies and advance himself to a higher level of humanity that God will accept? Until one day, perhaps in this century or the next, man has attained a level nearly equal with God, or at least high enough to be acceptable by God? Well John answers that question very clearly. No. God will increase and we will decrease. God is truth and the absence of sin. Man is born of sin and enslaved by it. God comes from heaven. Man does not. God created. Man did not. God is perfect. Man is imperfect. God has no limits on His knowledge. Man definitely has limits. Man comes from the dust of the earth, from a source of creation, and man without God and spiritual knowledge, can go no further than the physical things of this universe. Man cannot escape his five senses. We can certainly use logic and rational thinking to hypothesize and speculate, but in the dark we only come up with the wrong answers, like evolution theory. The sixth ingredient which is lacking in the common, or natural man is the spiritual link to reality. And that link comes only from God. God is in heaven and from heaven. He is the author and finisher of all creation as well as out faith. God has seen and heard all there is to see and hear. He is the only true witness of history and prehistory. He is omniscient and therefore knows all the facts or possibilities. God shares with mankind all that is necessary for man to avoid the pitfalls of life. God provides us everything, and provides us with sound counsel and guidance. But, God is rejected. He is rejected by the sin nature in each one of us. He is rejected by our attitude. We cannot shed our sin nature and free ourselves from its chains, so we are forever chained to slavery, and slavery of the worst kind, to our sin nature. But we do have volition which God gave us as a means of escape from this slavery. He gave us salvation by means of the Cross, so that we have something to look to. By virtue of our place in creation and by virtue of the restrictions we have in our make up, we are limited in our witness of reality. So we are left with faith and Gods Word. God set His own seal, the sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit. He gave us information which comes directly from the source of God Himself. He gave us information that has withstood the test of time, when man had no means of recording information, through many attempts in history to destroy Gods Word. Yet still it remains. Even the many languages do not pose a barrier, nor do geographical distances between our respective continents, or between heaven and earth, which is the greatest distance of all. God has overcome all obstacles, even sin and death. There is only one source of truth and that is God, and from God His Word. That is our means of coming to know the truth, the truth of reality, and not being lost in things like evolution which rejects God. Not lost in rational theories like sort of recognizing God, but trying to suggest that God used evolution to create the universe. The Bible clearly rejects this notion. Not lost in the parade of advertising of this present day - you are what you eat, you are what you wear, you are what you drive, you are what you live in, you are what you do, all of which are false conclusions. The reality is that we are what we think. And if that thinking content in our soul is Bible doctrine then we are on a sound foundation.
