You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Heb. 6:9-12
9 But [de], beloved [agapetos], we are persuaded [peitho] better things [kreitton] of [peri] you [humon], and [kai] things that accompany [echo] salvation [soteria], though [ei kai] we [laleo] thus [houto] speak [laleo].
10 For [gar] God [theos] is not [ou] unrighteous [adikos] to forget [epilanthanomai] your [humon] work [ergon] and [kai] labour [kopos] of love [agape], which [hos] ye have shewed [endeiknumi] [endeiknumi] toward [eis] his [autos] name [onoma], in that ye have ministered [diakoneo] to the saints [hagios], and [kai] do minister [diakoneo].
11 And [de] we desire [epithumeo] that every one [hekastos] of you [humon] do shew [endeiknumi] the same [autos] diligence [spoude] to [pros] the full assurance [plerophoria] of hope [elpis] unto [achri] the end [telos]:
12 That [hina me] ye be [ginomai] not [hina me] slothful [nothros], but [de] followers [mimetes] of them who through [dia] faith [pistis] and [kai] patience [makrothumia] inherit [kleronomeo] the promises [epaggelia]. KJV-Interlinear
9 But, beloved, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and things that accompany salvation, though we are speaking in this way. 10 For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. 11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. NASB
The Bible strives to convince you and all believers, that there is much, much more to the spiritual life than just salvation. Being saved and going to heaven is good, but that is not the beginning and end of the spiritual life.
Once saved, we all still remain in this world and we all have to face the day to day trials and temptations of life. In short we are expected to grow up. Why?
Because God gave us a gift of eternal life and accompanying that He also gives us tremendous blessings for eternity. Those blessings do not come to just everyone, but only to those who have been obedient to His Word.
Throughout the Old and New Testaments, God has made many promises. Those promises will become a reality when human history concludes and when eternity begins.
These promises go to those who have been diligent in ministering in the Word of God. What is ministering? That is the attendance to the wants and needs of others.
Your first order of ministering is to your own soul. You service your soul by conducting yourself in a daily Bible study.
Second you minister to others by conducting yourself in accordance with Gods principles of life on a day to day basis. You live an honest life, you support of the teaching of the Word of God, you give to charity and so forth.
Third, you minister to others by expressing your opinion (based on Bible doctrine) when various subjects of discussion come up in conversation. Note, the subjects being discussed do not have to be strictly religious oriented subjects. They can be any subject you can think of. There is always a divine point of view on every subject of conversation.
We ourselves are encouraged by Gods promises, by means of our daily study. Our daily study brings Gods Word always to the forefront of our minds, so we will have a tendency to stay on track rather than wavering in our spiritual life.
One of the primary reasons for a daily study is just that. To keep Gods Word in front of our thinking so that we will stay on track in our spiritual life. When you begin to skip lessons, then your focus on doctrinal thinking begins to stray, and that is the real danger of slipping away from your daily study.
Therefore we become diligent and persistent in our daily study, because we want (or you should want) the 'full measure' of your divine blessings. Not a half measure, not a quarter share, but a full share in your divine blessings which God has waiting for you in heaven.
Your blessing package is beyond your imagination. How would you like it if you ignored all of these warnings, did not grow up spiritually, and then went to heaven and Christ pointed to your galaxy of wealth and tells you, 'That could have been yours, but is now going to be re-distributed to others who were obedient.'
You might want to review some of the parables that speak to this distribution principle. And note that your loss will last forever. Some one else's gain will last forever as well.
We have life on this earth full of examples to teach us the principles of eternity. Here in this world there are billionaires, and there are the rest of us. If you had a choice, in which group would you like to live out your forever life? Well any normal person would choose a life in the wealthy group. Don't you buy lottery tickets ? Why? Life would be so much more fun if you were wealthy. And if it were to last forever, then so much the better.
Well in this life we did not have any say in our circumstances of life, but for the next life, God gives us all a say. We can be obedient to His mandates and by that define for ourselves an extremely wealthy eternal future. Of course you can ignore all of this Bible stuff, and take what He gives you in eternity when the time comes.
The first certain thing you need to be aware of is that you do have a next life awaiting you. You are not going to remain on this earth forever. For some of us that next segment of life will occur perhaps tomorrow. For most of us that next segment will occur in the years to come.
Whatever your life span will be, it will end sooner or later and eternity will begin for you. Gods rules of the game always apply, not ours.
So this passage ends with the advice, 'Don't be sluggish in your spiritual life.' That is, don't ignore your spiritual life. You have a galaxy of rewards waiting for you, so imitate those who have advanced to spiritual maturity, and of whom will receive the promises of God. Immature believers get little or nothing in future rewards. Only the mature believers receive their full share, and more.
Choose the group you want to be in.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
