KJV-Interlinear 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. NASB Why should you be diligent about advancing in your spiritual life? Because this information we have in the Bible is the truth. Apart from Bible doctrine in your soul, you have no future. Because it (Bible doctrine) is the 'logos,' something said. Something said in eternity past which has withstood the test of time and reality, being repeated over and over, again and again, and has been consistent throughout history, never having been changed or altered. Because truth never needs changing. Truth always matches up with the facts and reality perfectly. In contrast there is the thought and intent of Satan and mankind. Look to any political campaign and you will see the finest of examples of human opinion ever changing, like the weather. Always bending to the will of popular opinion. And that popular opinion usually changes with the news reporting of the day. In every generation you will find a certain fixed small percentage of folks who will be hardliners for the philosophy of the liberal opinion. You will find a certain fixed small percentage of hardliners for the philosophy of the conservative opinion. And, you will find the vast majority of people in the center of opinion who will sway from left to right, back and forth depending on the popularly of the message. The Word of God, however never changes for the convenience or expediency of popularity. Truth never needs to be changed. Lies however always have to be modified in order to keep on convincing others to follow them. All religions, all philosophies, all of mans beliefs apart from Bible doctrine are based on lies. The Word, comes from God, 'Theos,' the ultimate and supreme authority. This is the single and sole deity of the universe and beyond. Mans opinions started out with influence from Satan. The first interference of Satan came in the Garden. More and more influences came from Satan by means of satanic mechanisms such as reading the bones, or tea leaves, or horoscopes, or from seer's, or from those who promote the occult or crystal balls, and such things. All of these have sought to mislead mankind into thinking that man can somehow reach out past his own existence, and reach out by means of his own effort or ingenuity. Man can't figure himself out let alone anything which exists beyond his ability to measure or even verify. The spiritual realm is beyond mans reach. Yet man, even though he has Gods word right in front of him, ignores it and tries to improve on it or he tries to re-invent some other philosophy, and without having the benefit of ever having lived at anytime prior to his own history. Most of mans science, with respect to history, is nothing more than speculation. Gods Word is alive, 'zao.' Alive in that every other belief and philosophy is dead. Nothing good can come from something dead. Mans philosophies have never lived, never breathed, never designed, never invented anything completely original such as life itself. That is beyond mans ability. Gods Word is alive in that is matches reality with facts perfectly, and that equals truth. Gods Word is powerful. It is functional and active and quick. By the power of Gods Word he created all things. And there was nothing under heaven that God did not create. Man never created anything significant. Man cannot create life. Man cannot cancel nor even postpone his own death. Gods word can cut through any falsehood with a single swift stroke of the sword. Man has to hack and hack and hack through life. Gods word needs no prop, no assistance, no excuses are made for it. God can easily discern between the soul and the spirit as easily as man can surgically discern between the joints and the marrow of the physical body. Man cannot even detect the soul, even though there are over six billion of us walking and talking on this earth. But also the words used here for soul ('psuche') and spirit ('pneuma'), reflect the breath or soul of the living and breathing human being, and the spirit or the wind or breeze, or path of communication setting a link between man and God. And these define the thoughts ('enthumesis') or deliberation activities within the soul of the person, and the intents ('ennoia') or the moral understanding (or twisting of it) of the individual. The heart 'kardia' is the circulation process of thought within the soul of the person. This of course indicates life within the person. A dead person can't think. Only a living person has the capability of thought. By what standard do we measure right from wrong? Bible doctrine. It is the foundation since the beginning of time, that distinguishes right from wrong, truth from lie, integrity from deceit. Gods Word lifts up to success. Mans orientation is to destroy in order to perpetuate or promote ones self in the presence of or the persuasion of people. None of mans thoughts or intents can be hidden from truth. All truth is given from God freely and never hidden. All lies of man are intentionally hidden so that others might not see the intents of those who would deceive them. Again, the best examples of this principle comes from politicians who want power at any cost (your cost not theirs), or a very arrogant and dishonest news media who want to influence your thinking such that they can influence the course of history, running things at their whim. Or by tearing down anything that even smacks of honor, honesty, or integrity. Publications are not interested in truth, they are only interested in controversy at everyone's expense. There is but one judgment and evaluation, and that is from Jesus Christ. Everything else in this world, every other promise from this world is false, impotent, and powerless. There is nothing but Bible doctrine in the soul of the believer advancing to spiritual maturity, that can defeat any and all attacks from the world, and simultaneously prepare the mature believer for the greatest success of his life.
