You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Heb. 3:12-13
12 Take heed [blepo], brethren [adelphos], lest [mepote] there be [esomai] in [en] any [tis] of you [humon] an evil [poneros] heart [kardia] of unbelief [apistia], in [en] departing [aphistemi] from [apo] the living [zao] God [theos].
13 But [alla] exhort [parakaleo] one another [heautou] daily [kata] [hekastos] [hemera], while [achri] [hos] it is called [kaleo] To day [semeron]; lest [hina me] any [tis] of [ek] you [humon] be hardened [skleruno] through the deceitfulness [apate] of sin [hamartia]. KJV-Interlinear
12 Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called 'Today,' lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. NASB
Hos. 9:12
12 Though they bring up their children, Yet I will bereave them until not a man is left. Yes, woe to them indeed when I depart from them! NASB
Brethren, believers, are addressed here. Just because a person has believed in Christ, does not mean that that person will remain interested in the Bible, let alone grow up spiritually. A person can easily fall away from doctrine and head off into another direction of religious or philosophical belief.
There are lots of cults and religions out there who would more than gladly take people on as their disciples. But they pursue lies. They pursue 'dead' gods as opposed to the one and only 'living' God.
Christ was and continues to be faithful to the Father. Moses was faithful to Christ and to his people. You as a believer in Christ have an obligation to be faithful to doctrine, and through doctrine, to God.
Lest, and here is the very real danger to ones life and destiny, lest you fall away or drift away into unfaithfulness. That is, you simply depart from your daily study and you begin to imitate the unbelievers of the world.
God has a huge future for you, but you can forfeit it if you take the road of unfaithfulness. Note that you can never lose your salvation, only future blessings.
Do not put off until tomorrow, that which you can do today. You need to study your Bible daily, every day. Not letting a day pass where you don't do something with regard to your daily study.
Sure we are tempted to skip a study or two because we have a busy schedule. Maybe we are going on vacation, or we have a lot of work to do. We can easily come up with an excuse to skip our studies. After all we all get tired. But now the warning ...
The day you skip is the day that you risk your future. Coming up with the first excuse is followed by coming up with another excuse. Each subsequent excuse for not studying comes more easily and pretty soon you will find yourself in deep doggie doo-doo.
There is only one way to avoid judgment or a negative evaluation of yourself, and that is through consistency in your daily Bible studies.
Those who look to tomorrow, to get things done, are following Satan's favorite rule. Do tomorrow that which can wait. Tomorrow is when negative people get their work done. Tomorrow is when negative people repent. Tomorrow never comes of course and that is the greatest procrastination excuse of all.
The heart cannot be trusted. You can fool yourself right out of your destiny. And, that is an easy and dangerous thing to do.
Your only defense is to take the offense in your spiritual life. Your offense is to pursue doctrine daily, and never, never, never let up in your pursuit (your daily studies).
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
