10 I have confidence in you in the Lord, that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. NASB
Confidence, ‘pietho,’ means to convince by truthful argument by means of evidence or authority that is in agreement with that authority, thus promoting assurance and belief. Such confidence comes from faith by means of doctrine, which is the only source that leads to confidence. Through the Lord, who is Christ. But Christ is the written word also, and that is how we gain Christ in us, by means of learning doctrine. And that learning process transforms the mind, such that if you stick with a consistent and objective daily study, then you will have no other false systems of belief interfering with your Christian faith. But what you have faith in, comes from what you believe. And what you believe comes from what you know. And what you know comes from what you learn. Therefore, if your learning is restricted to the world, then your faith is limited by what is in the world. However, if your learning includes bible doctrine learned in the correct way, namely while in fellowship, then your views of life and reality will be molded by truth and your discernment between truth and lies will be better and correctly oriented to the realities of life. When false concepts come along you will be able to distinguish them for what they are, as all false concepts attack the fundamental principles of truth. It is far better to know truth and to promote truth, because the promotion of lies and false concepts will gain only judgment. Likewise, the perpetuation of false principles in life, whether passively or actively, will gain you only judgment.
Now is the time to post a prayer. End Of Lesson Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth. |
