7 With [meta] good will [eunoia] doing service, [douleuo] as
to the Lord, [kurios] and [kai] not [ou] to men: [anthropos] KJV-Interlinear
7 With good
will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, NASB
Good will, means kindness and benevolence. And that means that whatever your station in life, whether placed high in life or low in life, your service is not to man, but to God.
A slave is instructed to obey. A wife is instructed to obey. A worker is instructed to obey.
And whether you are under kind and good authority or under biter and ruthless authority, this verse teaches you to always look to God and not to man, and not even to your own circumstances.
This is how people have gone to martyrdom when everything that is done to them is totally wrong and unfair. When they have every right to complain and be bitter, but are not.
And that is one of the biggest difficulties in life, which is to prevent yourself from bitterness and hate, by blaming God or life in general, or someone or something else, because your life is miserable and not what you want or expected, or even feel that you deserve.
God does not sanction evil behavior that places you in your situation, but this is the devils world. God did not create the evils and unfairness's of this world. That is totally Satan's fault.
But God is there to show that no matter what the circumstances, He is able to find people who will still look to Him. Job looked to God. Jonah looked to God. And obviously Jesus looked to God when nearly everyone turned their back on Him, and even killed Him.
Any and all bad circumstances in life are temporary at the most. Even if they last for years, they are still temporary and your ultimate victory and vindication will come when you are in heaven. Your victory will last forever.
Likewise, masters or those in authority, are not there because they are somehow superior. They are only there because God placed them there, and for no other reason. God can promote or demote anyone at any time, lest anyone get a bit too uppity in their attitude concerning themselves.
In short, no matter what you situation is in life, God placed you there for a reason. And that reason is because that is exactly what you need in order to be successful in your spiritual life. Your carnal life or worldly life is irrelevant.
To accept your station in life is to accept Gods will. To reject your station in life is to reject Gods will.
This does not mean that you cannot try to better yourself. We all have abilities of some sort, and to ignore them and not enhance them is also an act of irresponsibility. God did not place you here to sit on the ground and do nothing.
But when you pursue your daily study and your spiritual life, then Gods will opens up many doors for you and therein is your map for advancing in your life. You just need to make sure that you do not make your worldly life a higher priority than your spiritual life.
