Ephesians 5:6

6 Let [apatao] no man [medeis] deceive [apatao] you [humas] with vain [kenos] words: [logos] for [gar] because [dia] of these things [tauta] cometh [erchomai] the wrath [orge] of God [theos] upon [epi] the children [huios] of disobedience. [apeitheia]KJV-Interlinear

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.  NASB

Deceive, 'apatao,' means to elude, to cheat. And when false opinions or ideas or beliefs are spread out for all to see and hear, then these things end up cheating you out of something that God intends for you to have, namely an inheritance, or blessings for all of eternity.

To lose these things is to be cheated by means of lies that are deceptive and lead you away from truth.

The promises of the carnal life, the opinions that a little of the good times is ok, that even some pleasantness in sin cannot do any harm, that as long as what you are doing brings harm to no one else, then it is ok, that as long as you are sincere in what you believe or are doing, then it is acceptable, to be dedicated to your hearts desires or beliefs, then all is well for you.

But these things and many more, are deceptions. They have the objective of making you indifferent toward truth. They make seemingly little things as acceptable. They make compromise in truth an acceptable standard. They allow for a wide path where one can stray off course sometime, and still be righteous. These values allow for one to make up their own rules of spirituality, thus allowing one to ignore various mandates that God has placed upon us.

But as we have seen in this book and throughout the Bible, there is no room for human substitution of human ideas in place of Gods principles.

The quickest way to get yourself into trouble, is to go off track on your own self defined path of spirituality or even off track into indifference or rejection of Gods rules.

The Bible is not a cafeteria where you can pick and choose what you will or will not do. God established all divine principles for everyone to follow. When you reject or ignore any or all of these principles, then you eventually ignore or reject your responsibilities and obligations that God has placed on you for this life.

And that attitude will lead you into trouble. And when most folks get into trouble because of their own stubborn doings, then they look around for excuses or something or someone to blame. The mirror is the best place to start your search for the person responsible for your problems.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
