Final Prayers
John 17:20-21

20 Neither [de] [ou] pray I [erotao] for [peri] these [touton] alone [monon] , but [alla] for [peri] them also [kai] which shall believe [pisteuo] on [eis] me [eme] through [dia] their [autos] word [logos] ;
21 That [hina] they all [pas] may be [o] one [heis] ; as [kathos] thou [su] , Father [pater] , art in [en] me [emoi] , and I [kago] in [en] thee [soi] , that [hina] they [autos] also [kai] may be [o] one [heis] in [en] us [hemin] : that [hina] the world [kosmos] may believe [pisteuo] that [hoti] thou [su] hast sent [apostello] me [me] . KJV-Interlinear

20 'I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me. NASB

Jesus is not praying for the apostles alone, nor the seventy, nor the many others, both men and women who followed Him, but He was praying for all believers throughout all generations.

Both the Father and the Son are one in their policy. The Holy Spirit is one as well, in that He is the principle communicator of Gods Word to mankind. All these things were seen in eternity past, for before we were formed in the womb (biological life) and before we were even born into this world (human life identity), Jer. 1:5, and before the many generations came into existence, Psa. 22:31, these things (the Cross and Gods Word) were all made possible, and provided in behalf of all who would believe in Christ and seek through Christ, eternal life.

The Father and Son and Spirit are all one. They have the same plan for history. There is no alternative plan or path to eternal life. Mankind tries as he may, to invent alternate plans for his own destiny. Man in so doing, is only pretending that his inventions of philosophy, and alternate beliefs, and compromises in Gods standards, are real. They are not.

The world is full of the bizarre and weird and alternate approaches to God. From the various religions, to various philosophies, mankind has fooled himself into thinking that there are other alternatives into eternity. If we believe hard enough, then it must be so! If this were true, then we could wish anything for our future, regardless of reality. Ahhh! If only wishes were horses.

But there is only one God, one truth, and that truth is Bible doctrine. So, Jesus prays that all believers pursue that one truth - Bible doctrine, such that all believers will be one, or consistent in their thinking. Does this mean that we will all think exactly alike? Does this mean that all believers will be cookie cutter products? No.

We are all individuals. Some of us are rocket builders, and some of us are diaper changers. Some of us can cook, and some can hammer nails. Some of us like music, and some of us like collecting stamps. We are all individuals, and independent thinking people. We choose our own likes and dislikes, but we can all have the same perception of life and reality - namely that there is but one God, one Savior, one truth. We can all know the difference between right and wrong. And, we can all be different in our personalities and preferences in life.

And one more thing. What is the point of all of this? We are in a worlds filled with alternate truths. We need to learn that Gods word is the only truth, and that all others concepts are but lies. If we follow Gods Word then we will come out winners in life and in eternity. If we ignore God, and pursue something better (or so we think), then we will end up losers in life.

Too many people are not convinced that Gods Word is their key to their future, but then are they really interested or just seeking whatever is convenient to the things they already believe in, in life?
