Service and Betrayal
John 13:31-32

31 Therefore [oun] , when [hote] he was gone out [exerchomai] , Jesus [Iesous] said [lego] , Now [nun] is [doxazo] the Son [huios] of man [anthropos] glorified [doxazo] , and [kai] God [theos] is glorified [doxazo] in [en] him [autos] .
32 If [ei] God [theos] be glorified [doxazo] in [en] him [autos] , God [theos] shall [doxazo] also [kai] glorify [doxazo] him [autos] in [en] himself [heautou] , and [kai] shall [doxazo] straightway [euthus] glorify [doxazo] him [autos] . KJV-Interlinear

31 When therefore he had gone out, Jesus said, 'Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him; 32 if God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. NASB

We are approaching a climax to the events about to unfold. Judas was the evil one in their midst, yet they did not recognize it. Most believers do not recognize the barriers that surround them, not because they are stupid, but because they lack comprehension of Bible doctrine. A comprehension due to their compromised attitude toward learning Gods Word. Unfortunately people, having ample opportunity to learn and to grow up to unbelievable heights in their spiritual life, do not pursue their spiritual life. They do not see it as a priority in their life. They do not see the value in a spiritual life. Consequently people make the wrong decisions and they miss out on the opportunity to grow up spiritually, and to a phenomenal life.

Judas has left. Evil has left, but what does this really mean? Judas has made up his mind. Jesus confronted him and gave him an out to the betrayal he was about to commit. Judas chose for the money and against Christ. The events of the Cross were now set into motion.

The Pharisees have already demonstrated their inept and cowardly ways toward making their threat, of arresting Jesus, good. They could have approached him at anytime. Jesus has been in the Bethany / Jerusalem area for a week now. He has been in the temple teaching and even taking on the verbal challenges of the Pharisees, Sadducees, and other elders. And they did nothing to seize Him or even to threaten Him in any way. They will do nothing until it is dark and until someone else turns Jesus in, namely Judas. The leaders of Judea are cowards, long on talk and short on action.

But now it is the decision which will bring the event of the Cross into a historical reality. Once Jesus is arrested all events are set into motion and they cannot be turned back by anyone.

Man by mans own decision and action sent Jesus to the Cross. Neither angel nor any other creature caused these events to occur, neither angel nor any other creature can change them.

Satan has for over 4000 years, tried to prevent the plan of God from coming to this point. He tried to end the human race in the Garden. He tried to end the human race with the murder of Abel. He tried to end the human race at the Tower of Babel. He tried to end the human race in Noah's time. Then he tried to destroy the line of Christ with Abraham, through David's time. He tried to destroy the nation of Israel in Egypt and with the many invasions of the nation between David's time and the time of Christ's first advent.

Even when Daniel gave the date of the first advent, Satan was unable to prevent the birth and thirty years of growth of Jesus Christ.

Now over 4000 years after the time of Adam, the appointed time of the Cross, on the very day, and at the very hour, was about to occur. Judas has left, signifying his decision to pursue his action against Christ. This seals the historical event of the Cross.

This means that there is nothing that will prevent the payment for the price of sin and death, the death of Christ, His resurrection, ascension, and session (seating) at the right hand of the Father in heaven. This is the ultimate historical glorification of Christ for His part in the Plan, the glorification of the Father for His design of the Plan, and these are as good as done, though on this eve before the crucifixion they have not yet occurred.

Christ as God has always had a glory which is infinitely beyond anything man of angel will ever have. As the Son of Man, He has lived an impeccable life. As the Messiah, Jesus fulfilled a promise and plan which God has laid out for mankind since eternity past.

And now Jesus states the conclusion of the events that have been promised since Adams time and now were about to come to pass.
